LEAH, from the Assyrian, means MISTRESS or RULER (Kolatch, Alfred J. 1984. The Complete Dictionary of English and Hebrew First Names. Middle Village: Jonathan David. 356).
Kabbalah - Zohar 1:158a teaches that Leah represents the upper world which is concealed and undisclosed.
Since Lamed can be interpreted as TO CROWN, and UNDERSTANDING (Ginsburgh, Rabbi Yitzchak. 1992. The Hebrew Letters. Jerusalem: Gal Einai. 180), one could say that Leah can mean [one who inclines] TOWARD A CROWN OF UNDERSTANDING.
